"Talk to me about the truth of religion and I'll listen gladly. Talk to me about the duty of religion and I'll listen submissively. But don't come talking to me about the consolations of religion or I shall suspect that you don't understand"
C.S. Lewis A Grief Observed
What does Lewis mean here? Can religion provide consolation? Or does it create more questions than answers? For me community provides consolation, and my community is one of faith. I think ritually Judaism is very good at providing consolation, by giving form and expression to grief and pain. Can consolation come from other sources?
