- Alan Murray is Co-Director of the AFAN programme. He was the Churches' National Adviser on Further Education from 2003-2008. He previously worked as a senior manager in Further Education and as a civil servant in the Further Education Unit of the DfES. He began his career as an RE teacher in schools and has also taught in universities and managed an educational consultancy. He is retired in 2008 and took up a Visiting Research Fellowship in the Department of Education at Kings College, London, co-directing the project All Faiths and None, developing materials for spiritual and moral development for young people at 16-19. Alan is also Lay Reader in his local Parish Church in Hackney, and is spending more time now on the special interest in inter-faith work he first developed working with Muslim colleagues when teaching in an Algerian university in the 70s.
